Show A BETTER MELTING POT So when it comes to a mixture of races it would seem that Uncle Sam has not been much more of a melting pot than Europe. The difference has been that in Europe the melting pot has not worked successfully. We have on this side of the Atlantic a United States forty-eight soverign state, filled with real Americans. Europe has the states and all of them are full of good people. But they are divided by national political line, by tariffs, by traditions, by language langu-age and war hatreds that we do not have in America. The melting pot worked in some instances inside the national boundaries but it did not create a United. States of Europe. I And within some national boundaries it has not always worked so well either as the stories we hear of dissatisfied minority populations so amply prove. We believe the American Am-erican system is the better, but perhaps Europe has gone too far along the other road to adopt it successfully. |
