Show INJURED IN TUNNEL NEAR CALIENTE s I Everett Bennett, 1!) years of age, I had a narrow escape from death on I Friday, July 20th when a sudden fall ! of ground at Tunnel No. 10 on the : L. A. & S. L. railroad caught him. When found Bennett had to be extricated extric-ated from the broken rock, a pile of many tons having fallen, one large rack weighing several tons was partly on him and litle hope was felt for his being alive However Supt. Fred Nicholson and crew with Dr. W. W. Stockham with extreme care and using us-ing every resource at their hand got Bennett out and after first aid treatment treat-ment he was rushed to the hospital on thain three, where he was reported to have an excellent chance, his injuries, in-juries, however being admittedly serious, seri-ous, embracing a broken right leg, a broken pelvis and serious internul injuries. in-juries. The boy showed wonderful grit when being taken out, never complaining com-plaining though his pain was severe. Bennett's parents, who reside in Santaquin, Utah, have gone to Los Angeles to be at the bedside of their son. Caliente Herald. |
