Show 10WN BOARD LETS 1 CONTRACT FOR MAIN ; STREET PAVEMENT i I JAMES AND BATES ARE I SUCCESSFUL BIDDERS : AT $20,036 LONE BID ON LIGHTS i The contract for paving Main street was let last Saturday, to James and Bate, contractors with offices of-fices in Springville. The amount of the bid submitted by this firm was 520,036.20. There were four bids opened at ten o'clock, and one bid came in too late. One of the members of the firm of successful bidders is Arch James, of Black Rock, the other is J. M. Bates of Springville. In the matter of installing ornamental orna-mental street lights, the only proposal pro-posal was submitted by the Telluride Power company, by its general superintendent, super-intendent, L. R. Founder. The figures fig-ures of this bid were for three plans, and the amounts were 2,842.90; $2440.45, and $2501.20. The first plan will likely be selected, calling for a twelve foot standard of Gothic design. Other bidders on the paving were Floyd Whiting, with a bid of $23,-470.00; $23,-470.00; J. L. Griffiths company of Salt Lake, bidding $21,093.80; Enock Smith of Salt Lake with ?23,737.S0, and Christensen, Jacob and Gordner of Salt Lake with $20,645. The lust amount named bid was received too late for consideration. Certified checks of $1,000 accompanied accom-panied each bid. The controlling item in the bids was of course for the 5,-240 5,-240 square yards of concrete. Other items, such as removal of gravel, old concrete, constructing curbs, clean-out clean-out boxes, etc., were of lesser significance. signi-ficance. The estimated cost was $19,-150.00 $19,-150.00 This figure was less than, bids submitted because of freight rates on gravel. No protests were submitted to the town clerk from owners of property to be assessed. Following this, the town board will pass the necessary ordinances ordin-ances to pave and install lights. The contractors have sixty .days to put in the pavement after the date of notification to begin work.
