Show Couldn't Be Mistaken as to Speed of Auto The other day in the Los Angeles traffic court a darky was on trial for speeding. He had vehemently denied the charge but the arresting officer pointed out to the court that Inasmuch Inas-much as the car had no speedometer, the darky couldn't possibly have a fair idea of how fast he was actually going. "Boss," declared the darky earnestly, earnest-ly, "Ah doan need no speedometer to tell how fast Ah's goin'. When Ah goes ten miles an hour, mah lamps rattle ; when Ah goes fifteen mall mudguards rattle; at twenty, mah hones rattle; an' de one time Ah went as fast as de officer says, Lizzie Jus' shook herself all to pieces an' ain't neber been de same since." |
