Show ACTIVE OPERATIONS ARE STARTED UPON STREET PAVING James and Bates.'who have the contract con-tract for paving Main street, began work this week in excavating and removing re-moving the gravel and have seemingly seem-ingly made good progress. Two blocks have been covered in their operations, and about fourteen inches of hard-packed hard-packed gravel was taken off. Only the west half of the street was worked upon, with the streets temporarily closed although left open for the delivery de-livery trucks from the business houses. Most of the gravel taken out is being put on MeKeon street. Most all of the side .streets will be benefited benefit-ed by a covering of gravel. F. H. Richardson, district engineer of the Portland Cement Association, has been in this city throughout the week, conferring with Town Clerk M. P. Lewis on the paving plans. Upon his recommendation, Inspector W. S. Wilson has been selected to check up on the quality of work and materials going into the Main street paving. The latter was here this week and will be here during the continuation of the improvement operations. The cable for use in putting in new street lights has arrived and the Telluride Tell-uride Power company will begin its work at once. |
