As tho clouds re- PH tired to tho west tho luminary roso ! and tho bow was first observed, only PH i tho extremities for about 25 degrees J being visible, tho moon at that tlmu J being concealed behind a small cloud j For about twenty minutes tho bow In. J creased In brightness, and at tho end PH ot that tlmo could bo clearly traced PH , ' Itbroughout Its cntlro length. At each J ,'end tho red and bluo colors could ba J plainly distinguished, but tho re- J raalndcr of the arc showed only as a PBJ 'light streak across tho clouds. J Tho conditions for tho phenomenon j wore almost Ideal, tho moon being but PH I ,a few days paBt full, tho cloud screen PH I occupying tho proper position, and, as PBJ . It occurred Just at moonrlso, tho bow iwas Been well up In tho heavens.
