Show AN OPEN LETTER To the people lu and around Delta: The Delta Commercial Club, last week, invited our boosters to meet with them in a banquet at the Delta Hotel, at Delta, and to talk over the things which are of mutual interest to the two communities. We went and had a more than pleasant social time with our neighbors. We want to say to the people in and around Delta, as outside observers: You can well afford to be proud of your association of boosters there. We think that you, sometimes, may not credit the men who are giving their time, will and energy toward building up your county, the full amount paid In. Some are prone to suggest that any thing said or done in favor of a place is always from a selfish motive, but let us, who are only neighbors and have no interest there further than that of neighbors, say to you that you do yourself and them a great injustice injus-tice when you do not beleieve that they are great, big, wide-minded men and are earnestly working and striving striv-ing to make your community a better place to live in. Do you think when they point to your fields, to your homes, to your successful drainage systems and can see that you are successful, suc-cessful, that there is not a real feeling feel-ing of satisfaction that is not more than of some little selfish Interest that in some way, some time might come to them from it? No, these men are truly happy to see you successful suc-cessful just for the mere fact that you are and will be, long after they have passed the stage of public activity, ac-tivity, your country down there has been redeemed and is going to make one of the richest districts in this state. But for this kind of men who are your boosters to take the ler.d in big things Instead of bolng a great country coun-try It would soon have been doomed as a great waste. You may be doing your part, but you are not if you are not for the big movement and are in any way retarding retard-ing it. Don't overlook the importance of a local news sheet. Many do not know the weight this carries except those who have watched it before. Don't fret and worry because you do not have more now and that every-Mng every-Mng looks bad, as we say. Remember Remem-ber this condition Is only temporary and is soon to right itself. We know it will in a country so solid as the old U. S. A., and he who will stick and stand by the ship now is the fellow fel-low who will be flying the bright flag ere long. Yours, LYNNDYL NEIGHBORS. |
