Show FINANCIALLY The city dailies had this in their llnancial columns Saturday: "Country "Coun-try banks are reported cutting down their loans to absolue necessities, notifying city banks there can be no lasting relief until farmers are able to market their products." Also: "There is no question about (he value of farm loans to this part of the country. Probably the greatest great-est immediate result of the actual loaning of money to farmers in Utah and Idaho, which is expected to begin be-gin within the next few weeks, will bo the relief provided for many country coun-try banks which now have considerable consider-able amounts tied up In non-liquid agricultural loans." The editor of The Chronicle will write a pointed review of the last seven months some time this early fall, when It can be reviewed without with-out feeling, and when a more settled opinion has been arrived at. In the meantime, suffice it to say, no great relief will come to farmers, either through Federal Farm loans or otherwise, oth-erwise, until the marketing of the next crop this fall. From now till then will be a period of stress. |
