Air Schools Increasing, Since January 1, U)l)T, sixty live open nir school for children allllcted with or predinpoHcd to tuberculosis have been established In twelit v-el;;ht cities, nccordliiK to an announcement inado by the National Association for tho Study and Prevention of Tuberculosis. The first open air school In the United States was established on January 1, 1 y07, by tho board of education of Providence, It. I., at tho instance of Dr. Kllen A. Stone. Tho next school was established In May of tho same yens at Pittsburg, and tho third at V.'n In J'ifyi 1908. According to (j p'po'i recfclved by the national Jjfjn, the result of the open air c -vork ha been to restore most of """children to normal health and efficiency. One of those open air schools jor classes should be established estab-lished for each 25,000 population, especially es-pecially in cities. |
