Show Returns to This Land of Promise. Peter Hughes, who left here over a year ago for Oklahoma, thinking that this country was not the place for himself, returned return-ed last Friday to establish himself him-self as a permanent resident, never more to roam, so he says. Mr. Hughes is 58 years of age and has been engaged in farming farm-ing all his life, having farmed in the states of Ohio, Indiana, Oklahoma, Okla-homa, Arkansas, Texas, Oregon, Washington and Utah. He is a keen observer of opportunities and now declares that this particular par-ticular place in Utah offers the man of moderate means a much greater chance to get ahead and become the owner of a good farm than any of the other places he has lived at, ever offered; further stating that all a farmer had to do in this lovely country to succeed suc-ceed was to be industrious, manage man-age reasonably well and be imbued imbu-ed with that trait of stick-to-it-iveness, necessary to win the battle anywhere under the sun, at the farming game.. Mr. Hughes contends that there are no better advantages for successful farming, farm-ing, that he has discovered in his travels, than right here in Millard county, and that the man who is here now and fails to get possession of a farm at its present pres-ent reasonable price will have occasion to regret that he didn't. Mr. Hughes says that he never lived among a more neighborly, hospitable people than right around Delta, and just why any one could ever become dissatisfied dissatisfi-ed here, is more than he can comprehend. |
