Show More Canning Equipment For Housewives Home canning equipment will be adequate this year for the housewife house-wife who plans to can, preserve and pickle the produce of her victory vic-tory garden and the still uncertain 1945 fruit crop. The war production produc-tion board announced that there will be more pressure canners this year than at any time since the beginning be-ginning of the war and that in addition ad-dition considerable supply of tin cans. Cold pack cookers of metal will also be available in quantity. Limitations in canning this year may be due to the suppply of fruit and sugar more than to containers, it now appears. The war food administration, ad-ministration, however, will provide information on canning foods without with-out sugar. It is still too early to know the size of the fruit crop in all sections of the country, but the Dep't of Agriculture estimates that fruit, other than citrus friuts and apples, will be about 84 percent of last year's crop. Housewives, by carefuul planning, will be able to provide their families minimum winter needs, it is believed Canning Can-ning sugar for home use has been limited by OPA to a maximum of 15 pounds per person.
