Show Farmers Get Improved Priorities To assist farmers in getting necessary ne-cessary farm operating supplies for the current crop season, an AA-2 extendable preference rating for obtaining such supplies was given to farmers by the Office of Civilian Civil-ian Requirements through the issuance is-suance by WTB of Amended Priorities Prior-ities Regulation 19. This action places farmers on the same level of preference in buying as other war-supporting industries. Before this amendment, farmers had an AA-2X or AA-3 priority, extendable only to the wholesale level. Other changes made by the amendment are- (1) Revision of the list of i-tems i-tems to which the AA-2 rating can now be applied; and addition of other essential items. (2) Chnrfge in the certificate used by farmers, eliminating necessity for approval of county farm rationing committees commit-tees of purchases in excess of $50. (3) Elimination of the "Basketing" provision for permitting a dealer to apply all farmers applications toward the purchase of any selection selec-tion of items he might choose. Even more significant than the up-rating of the farmers preference OCR said, is the completion of the chain of giving preference in buying buy-ing from the farmer all the way to the manufacturer. The AA-2 rating will help to provide an even and continuous flow of farm supplies into the thousands of small stores in rural communities where they are sorely needed. Hems like hoes, or scythes, or pails or wheelbarrows wheelbar-rows or pliers for farm use will be more surely channeled from the factory to the stores where farmers buy. $ Buy War Bonds and Stamps $ |
