Show Trout Fishing Season Opens in Utah Friday; Oak Creek Planted Again Friday, June 15, the trout fishing season in Utah will open for 1945. Anglers have long awaited the date and will take forth to their favorite streams, as far as their gas will allow. Oak Creek will be the main spot hereabouts and from the number of people who have voiced their i-dea i-dea of going there on the opening, it will be necessary to take your own rock along to sit on. The streams and lakes have been planted for the opening as well as weather and road conditions will permit and according to state fish and game reports, fishing should be very good this year. The bass and catfish season in i Millard County has been open for about one month now and with some excellent results reported, as well as some very poor fishing. The Sutherland bridge district has been the best for both catfishing and for bass. Many large bass have been taken from the river channel to the east of the present bridge. The Mexicans have done a lot of fishing for carp and have introduced intro-duced a novel and simple system. They wade in the ankle deep water wat-er around the grass and cattails with a large board and on seeing a carp nosing about in the green grass, they slowly walk up and hit it a lucky wallop with the board. Each man is good for 10 to 20 carp at a "fishing" and they are eliminating elim-inating those pests much to the benefit of all concerned. |
