Show i Abraham Mother Cat Adopts Baby Badger Grace, the family cat and pet ot th8 Sherman Tolbert home in Abraham, has adopted a taiv badger and is contentedly contented-ly raising it with her family of live kittens. How long peace will reign in the cat household i, uncertain, as the newcomer is a pushing and persistent little lit-tle beast and always gets to the dinner table first. He is fat as a seal, Mr. Tolbert reports. The badger had been star boarder with the mother cat ior two weeks when this picture pic-ture was taken April 16 and still had his eyes closed. The kittens, slightly older, peered at him out of astonshed blue eyes. They were content to play but not the badger. He squalled and stormed around the box in indignation until lunch was served. Mr. Tolbert found the badger while out hunting for coyote pups oine day. He tucked it in his jacket and brought it home to Grace, who had just had new kittens. At first she rejected rejec-ted the little animal, not caring car-ing for its looks or smell, and would keep putting it outside the nursery. Soon she weakened and let the little fellow snuggle snug-gle close, wow she likes its faugh fur and cares for it as lovingly as she does her own babies. Grace has raised many babies, but never before a badger bad-ger such as this one. |
