Miss Sidwell comes to us with the highest recommendations. We all know Mr. Bishop's excellent qual-ifications as he has taught before, and we look forward to an instruct ive school year for the pupils. The building of the new depot has been postponed for a time. The "railway company wanted the people to 'furnish the cement block but as these would cost about twice as much as the brick they agreed to furnish they couldn't raise the money. It would seem as if ithe company might afford to put up their own depot as they do in other places. Burtner people have a hard enough time to make a living withhout building depots for a rich railway company. Deseret We notice that four loads of tele phone poles were delivered in Pet-er T. Black's yard to be put up between Deseret and Hinckley, which will insure better telephone service. Professor Moench and faculty of the Millard Stake Church High School, held a meeting in the Des-eret meeting house last Sunday, and expounded to a large and ap-preciative audience the advant-ages of receiving the higher edu-cation. While our people have tak-en an interest in the erecting of the school building by responding generously with financial help, we find a still deeper feeeling in favor iting it by deciding to send their children. We notice that furnish-ing Dorm rooms are being hauled over. We anticipate a marked im-provement socially at Hinckley and adjoining wards. Oak City Stanley Lovell, Willis J. Lyman and Lydia Roper have gone to Hinckley to attend the MSA. Miss Jane Rawlinson has gone 'to Clear Lake, where she has been engaged as teacher in the public schools. Three sugar cane mills are now in operation and the work of con-verting cane juice into molasses is going forward. A large amount will be made this season. Oasis Mrs. Henry Huff returned home on Friday morning after a week's stay in Salt Lake where she has been to make arrangements to send her daughters to school for the coming year. The meeting at the LDS chapel was fairly attended last Sunday A very interesting and instructive lecture was delivered by Bro. Jac-ob C. Hawley on "The Wayward Child", given in the parent outlines " NOTICE TO WATER USERS following applications have with the State Engineer rJpropnate 'water in Millard State of Utah, throughout CoU"entire year, unless otherwise ipLri&ted, all locations being SLB&M bnVJ0 - Sterling A.
