Show SCARLET FEVER : During the past few months we have had n mild epidemic of .scarlet fever,.whlch some people, as well as physicians, have called' scarlet'cna. Som' physicians do not liko to hurt your feelings' by telling you It is scarlet fever, so they say it Is Just a mild case ot scarletena. Now let me tell you once and for all, "Scarletena "Scarl-etena is scarlet fever one and the same, thing," there is no difference! only some cases are milder than others, -but are Just as capable of spreading, a death dealing case to Its neighbor, so In the future there will be no Bcarletena In Logan, but plain scarlet fever, with a quarantine period peri-od of at least four weeks. Now we have been Indulgent to a fault with these matters of quarantine, but in the future tho quarantine officers Is ordered to arrest any person or persons per-sons having knowlcdgo of any rash which they do not report. The excuse, ex-cuse, that "We did not think it was contagious," will have no' weight, but all unreported cases of rash, whether Innocent or catching, will be cited beforo the city judge to ehow cause for not reporting tho same. It Is criminal for any person to hide a disease, di-sease, which might cause tho death of their neighbor's child. It is appalling ap-palling the selfishness which some people exhibit In wanting unsafe privileges or tho right to go out before be-fore tho full time Is served. Ot course it is hard "on you to stay in, but it 'would be a pleasure for a dozen other families to stay in four weeks because you wanted to get out a few days before your time. In the future the state law will be strictly adhered to. Four weeks for scarlet fever and smallpox, fourteen days for measles and chlckenpox, six weeks for whooping cough, which Is tho most deadly of all diseases to small children. More children die from it than all other contagious dleseases combined. It Is an unfortunate thing that wo have physicians, who for somo reason or other choose to use misleading names for tho disease when they wish to differ from the health physician. Such names as pertussis, per-tussis, tussls Infantum, chink cough, or chine cough. All are made use of, and especially chine cough. These are all different names for the same disease and misleading. Many people peo-ple say, "Why, tho doctor said It was only chine cough." Any cough which attacks more than ono In a family Is contagious, and unsunlly whooping cough, so remember In tho future wj expect to make an example of people who have so little regard for contagion. |
