Go hear them., J. A. Hendrlckson started yesterday yester-day morning for New York City on a business trip. He expects to be absent ab-sent about three weeks. The Dtah Presbytery will meet in Logan on August 20. Perhaps fifty Presbyterian ministers will be in attendance, at-tendance, the session lasting a week. Ball, who has been visiting visit-ing relatives over on the coast in recent re-cent weeks, is at home in Logan again. The Balls arc occupying the director's residence at the A. C., of course. E. J. Broberg, of the American National Bank, San Francisco, came to Logan Saturday night to spend a vacation. Two sons accompanied him and the three of them have gone to the Yellowstone Park. John Nicholson, formerly janitor at the court house, Is cow in the same position at St. Mark's hospital, Salt Lake City. A short time ago he underwent un-derwent an operation for cancer of the stomach and is now improving in health. . The dry farmers at Blue Creek have been very successful in securing water In driven wells. The last well driven was for William nyde aud after going go-ing but 280 feet a most excellent flow of good water was secured, ne will Install a windmill for raising it to the surface. George M. Turpln, of Salt Lake county, has been engaged to succeed Prof. James Drydtn in the poultry department de-partment at the Agricultural College. Mr. Turpln had been working with Prof. Dryden for two years in this' work, but recently resigned to operate a large poultry farm. lie is a Utah boy and a former student of the Instl. tutlon. That Logan grocery prices are about right is evidenced In the fact that a Salt Lake crowd purchased here In preference to the caattal. A bunch of young men contemplated spending an outing in Logan canyon and sent here for pnceson about $50 worth of groceries. The figures were returned, compared with Salt Lake prices, and the Logan firm got the order. Ladies hat sale now on at Eliason sisters. One lot at $l.oo each and one lot at 50 cents each. H. P. Nielsen and family, who came down to attend the funeral of his father, Jens Nielsen, returned to La-grande, La-grande, Oregon, Monday. Mr. Nielsen has been doing contract work there the past eleven months and is getting along splendidly. He Is enthusiastic over the country and says it offers every opportunity. Mr. Nielsen will return to Logan In about threo months and remain through the winter win-ter season at least. Miss Thatcher, city treasurer, Is quite busy these days receiving money for redemption of property which has been sold for water main extension and paving tax. All property that has been assessed for these purposes and on which the tax Ij unpaid has been sold to the city, andunlcss redeemed re-deemed within u certain time will become be-come the property of the city. It would be well for the property owners to Inquire as to whether theso special taxes have been paid, otherwise the title to their property will bo clouded, besjdei heavy interest will be added. Eugene Santschl, formerly ot the A. 0., and recent graduate of West Point, has been In Logan a few days, ne Is awaiting his assignment to some post, and rather expects to go to Fort Douglas. Mrs. Chester Snow left for her home in Provo last Sunday. She and her husband, and other members ot a party spent two weeks in the Monte Chrlsto country, at the head af Blacksmith Fork canyon. R. D. Emmlck, present manager of the Pocatello opera nouso, formerly manager of Thatcher's, came to .Logan .Lo-gan Monday to remain until after Singling does his stunt here. Mr. Emmlck is trying to make arrangements arrange-ments for the big circus to appear at his house in Pocatello. A kitchen shower given Miss Bessie Thomas at the McCausIand home Saturday afternoon resulted in that young lady receiving quite a number of useful kitchen utensils. The crowd will be at the Auditorium tonight and Saturday night. Jacob West returned Saturday from a two weeks visit with his two sons John and Fred, near Mountain View, Alberta. Last week a letter was received by Manager Shall from capitalists In southern Utah, who have learned ot the property, making a proposition to buy the mine right nut, If a suitable price could be put on it. They will send experts to the mine and report their llndlngs, when an offer will be made for tho purchase of the mine The present company Is delighted de-lighted at the showing being made of tho new ore bodies, while the latest assay shows the ore to be worth over ninety dollars per ton.
