Show Wells Out on $1,000 Bond Puts Up at Least Part of ' Former Bond. r Dr. S. M. Wells, the man whom Sheriff Smith went to Salt Lake after a few days ago, was taken into custody, but later released on $1,000 cash bonds. Sheriff Smith returned to Logan Saturday Satur-day night and says that -Wells will undoubtedly appear in court in Logan in a few days. It was reported that Wells had settled wittr former bondsmen. Thos. Rose and S. A. Langton, paying , them the $500 they had to pay ; Cache county when he decamped, - out' it seems this was incorrect. A part of the amount was paid, but Mr. Rose had to go to Salt ) Lake Monday to see about the j remainder. Wells will probably put up the amount, with accrued interest. The Inter-Mountain Republican Republi-can says of the arrest of Wells: ""Several days ago Alvin Allen of I Hyrum and former Sheriff Rigby of Logan were in Salt Lake. They saw Dr. Wells on the street and carried the news to Logan. In the expose of the Fer-Don fake in the Republican, the "boy phenomenal" phe-nomenal" was given his right fc name or the one he has travel-" travel-" ( ed under for years and this attracted at-tracted the attention of people at Logan. Former Sheriff Rigby , and Mh Allen were sure of Wells when they saw him on the street. Wells has been keeping his name secret under the caption of the "boy phenomenal" though he is 29 years old and rather man-.sized man-.sized for a boy. After the arrest there was all kinds of trouble in the ranks of the fake medicine , bunch and "The Great Fer-Don" was busy Thursday night explaining ex-plaining from tho platform how " it happened. The "great healer" told his gullible audience that the arrest was all a mistake, that "the boy phenomenal" was un justly accused, and that ho would be back in Salt Lake at the old ' - stand to do his healing stunts in a day or two." For four years the officers of Cache county have been keeping their weather eye openfor Wells, 1 ' t who is alleged to have performed a criminal oporation on Tena Garrett, Gar-rett, 20 years old, in -1902. He was arrested at that time and held under a $500 bond.
