Show Following in order are Jim Wilding (12.8 per game), Gary Crosby (ll.O), Kerry Rubb (10.6) and Bernie Lea vitt (10.1). Crosby was the early season leader before his effectiveness was cut by a bad bout with the flu. Six different players, including guard Amos James, who isn't currently in the "double figure scoring club," have been individual in-dividual game scoring leaders. Because of the depth and versatility of the squad, coach Stan Jack often varies his starting lineup. The "most regular starters" probably include in-clude Lee, a 6-5 forward; Laing, a 6-7 forward; Wilding, a 6-9 center; Crosby, a 6-0 guard, and Kupp, a 6-4 guard. Leavitt, a 6-5 guard; James a 5-9 guard; Robin, Haight, a 6-9 center, and Quinton Davis, a 6-7 forward-center, have also had a turn on the starting five. Only one player, Wilding, has started all T-Bird games. Six T-Birds score in double figures A statistical rarity has been achieved by the Southern Utah State College basketball team: six players are averaging double figure scoring. The current scoring leader (there have been four different players who have led) is sophomore forward Robert Lee. He is scoring an average of 13.3 points per game. Steve Laing, who has yet to become the top average point maker this year, is hitting 12.9 per contest. |
