Show Hit Century Mark Birds wipe out Mines for RMAC victory It was an ego trip for Southern Utah State College hoopsters Tuesday evening as they belted the nets for 101 points to defeat Colorado School of Mines in the first conference game of the season. After a series of frustrating games, in which the T-Birds did not fair so well, the entire squad got an opportunity to inflate their ego against the Mines as they posted a 101-75 victory. For Jim Wilding the experience ex-perience must have been a pleasant one as he iiit for 31 points and grabbed off 11 rebounds to lead all players in booth departments. That came after a battle with All-American candidate Bryant Forrest of Grand Canyon in action Saturday night. It was a good trip for a number of the T Birds. For Clary Crosby, w ho hit lor 19 and was the single member of the team who seemed to be shoolumgmting for the century mark. He pushed in the loo breaking bucket from the top of the key with less than 10 seconds on the clock. Robin Haight also had some good experiences against Colorado Mines as he hit 5 of 5 from the field for 10 points and pulled off live rebounds. Coach Stan Jack played his entire bench in the contest and he began substituting early as the Birds took a commanding lead early in the game. They held a 53-29 53-29 advantage at the midway point. Top man for the visiting Miners was Dan 1 )ennerberger. I le had 18 points ami w as leading rebounder for his team with nine. Also in double figures was Coleman with 13 and I.oseman with HI. |
