Show Kite -skier to headline Winter Classic activities Tne third annual Color Country Winter Classic will be held January 22 - February 4, 1973. The Classic is jointly sponsored by the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce, Southern South-ern Utah Stat.? College, and Brianhead Ski Re;rt. The Iron County Commission also contributes con-tributes money to help finance the Classic. This year the Classic promises to be the biggest big-gest Classic ever held. Highlight of the Classic will be the appearance of Jeff j Jobe, world famous kite-skier. ; Mr. Jobe will fly his kite at Brianhead on February 3rd & 4th. Another famous figure to appear at the Classic will be Rick Nelson and the Stone Canyon Band. They will appear ap-pear on January 24th at 8:00 pjn., in the SUSC Auditorium. Other events at SUSC include in-clude a Chariot Race, Snow Sculpturing and Queens Pageant. Pag-eant. Southern Utah State will also sponsor ski races and ski jumping events on Saturday, Satur-day, January 27th. Other major events during the second week of the Classic Class-ic include Family activities at Woods Ranch and Brian-head. Brian-head. A talent show at the Parcwan High School on January Jan-uary 31, starting at 8:00 pm. ;vC.w? Vv "'"S K$tfJ : jw y.i February 2, there will be a basketball game between Southern Utah State and Westminster West-minster College. The final big weekend will be the highlight of te Classic. All activities will be at Brian-head Brian-head on February 3rd and 4th. Ski races will be held on the 3rd and 4th. Ski jumping will also be held both days. Jeff Jobe, will fly his kite on February 3rd and 4th. Jobe has received national fame in recent rears with his kite HIGHLIGHTS CLASSIC. Jeff Jobe, nationally recognized Kite-Skier will make an appearance during the Col or Country Classic. He is slated to perform Feb. 3 and 4 at Brian Head Ski Resort. act. This attraction will ibe one of the most entertaining to come to Southern Utah in recest years. In addition to Jobe and the ski races a special event that is unique to Brianhead will be held on Sunday, February 4, This is the World Championship Champion-ship Snow Shovel Race. It is a very simple sport just hop on a snow shovel and ride down a slope. The fastest time down the hill wins. The current worlds champion is Jim Bean from Las Vegas, Nevada. The winter classic will be a fine time to enjoy the winter win-ter sports of Iron County. Also prizes will be awarded participants partic-ipants as a means to pay for som.9 of the events of the Classic.
