Show Redmen down tough Tiger crew 61-55 Cedar High Sch(xl Redmen moved out of Class 2A competition com-petition this past week to test the strength of the Milford Tigers at Milford. After 32 minutes of play the Redmen discovered that the Tigers, who are ranked as the number one team in the state for 1A, are truly a fine club, but not good enough to defeat the Redmen. Coach Dick Hobbs and his crew scored a 61-55 victory. The win was not without a struggle, however. Both teams were cold in the first quarter of play and the two top ranked teams battled to a 10-10 deadlock at the end of the first quarter of play. The Redmen could only manage a one point advantage at the intermission, 26-25, but in the third period the superior (ward strength of the Redmen took it's toll and the Cedar crew moved to a lead of as much as 12 points and controlled the game through the final buzzer. In posting the victory Coby Leavitt, All-Ameriean center for the Redmen, turned in one of his finest games of the year. Leavitt was the dominate factor on both ends of the court as he pulled off an unprecedented 28 rebounds, scored 26 points and blocked a half dozen shots. Also impressive in the victory was Robert Shirts who pulled off 10 rebounds and pumped in eight points. Mike Hair was in double figures for the Redmen with 14 points. The Tigers proved to be a hustling crew, that narrowed the final gap in the score with a fine full court press, but their inability to control the boards led to their downfall.
