Show In Millard, Beaver Counties BLM offers geofhermal lease Geothermal leases on 21,059.99 acres in Millard and Beaver counties have been offered by the U. S. Department of the Interior's In-terior's Bureau of Land Management for competitive bidding. Ten leasing units have been offered by BLM for lease, according ac-cording to Paul L. Howard, BLM state director for Utah. The sealed bids must be submitted by March 5 at 10 a.m. at which time they will be opened in room 7102 of the Salt Lake Federal Building. The 10 units offered are within the Cove Fort-Sulphurdale known geothermal resource area (KGRA) some 15 to 30 miles north of Beaver. Sizes of the units vary from 1,403 to 2,560 acres. In addition to the amount bid, successful bidders will pay rental for use of the land and royalties on any steam production. Details concerning stipulations which will be attached at-tached to the leases and bidding procedures may be obtained from the BLM Utah State Office, 8103 Federal Building, P.O. Box 11505, 125 South State Street, Salt Lake City, Utah 84111. This is the second offering of geothermal leases by BLM in Utah, Mr. Howard said. Last June the bureau offered 12 units for lease within the Roosevelt Hot Springs KGRA. Phillips Petroleum Co., successful bidder on nine of those units, has received permission from BLM to move a drilling rig onto their lease January 31, 1975. |
