The Enoch Second Ward was formed Sunday and a new bishopric sustained including, left to right; James L. Clark, first counselor; Ivan M. Matheson, Bishop and John G. Pace, second counselor. Enoch Ward Divided; new bishoprics sustained Over 90 percent of the membership mem-bership of the Enoch Ward of the Parowan Utah Stake turned out Sunday afternoon for the fast and testimony meeting at which the ward was divided and two new bishoprics were sustained. President Phillip Hanks, who presided at the meeting, noted the growth of the ward during the past several years and the anticipated an-ticipated continual growth in the valley that would further increase in-crease the ward membership. With the growth the proposed division was presented and sustained by the membership creating the Enoch First and the Enoch Second Wards. Released as the bishopric of the Enoch Ward were Dee ' H. Wilcken as bishop with counselors coun-selors Ivan M. Matheson and G. Steven Grimshaw. Serving as executive secretary was Clark V. Maxwell with Haken Anderson as ward clerk and Glendon Heaton as finance clerk. Sustained as bishop of the Enoch First Ward was G. Steven Grimshaw. Named as his counselors were Richard M. Webster and Clark V. Maxwell. Sustained as bishop of the Second Ward was Ivan M. Matheson with James L. Clark as first counselor and John G. Pace as second counselor. The division line for the two wards will be the Minersville Road, Utah Highway 130, which traverses the valley north and south. The First Ward will constitute those members East of the Minersville Road with the Second those west of the division line. According to President Hanks the two new bishoprics will alternately conduct meetings with the full membership throughout the month of February after which the two wards will begin to function independently. The need for additional facilities has been evidenced for some time and bids were expected ex-pected to be opened on Wed- nesday of this week for a proposed new Chapel for Enoch. 1 It has been designed to house two ( wards, it was pointed out. |
