Darryl Schramm named chairman of Iron County Red Cross chapter Darryl Schramm was elected chairman of the Iron County Chapter of the American Red Cross by the board of directors to replace Richard Barnes who has moved from the area. Also, Mrs. Joan Mortensen was elected elect-ed to be vice chairman to replace re-place Mrs. Georgia Beth Thompson Thomp-son who requested a year leave from board responsibility. Darryl Schramm is loan counselor coun-selor for Prudential Federal Savings and Loan Association. He graduated from Milford High School as an honor student stu-dent and student body president. presi-dent. He received a B. S. degree in education from Utah State University through the College of Southern Utah. He also completed com-pleted advanced classes at the University of Utah and Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University. He taught school in Cedar City for one year and at Parowan for three years. He was an administrative admini-strative specialist for the IBM Corporation of Salt Lake City. He returned to this area to be general manager of the Brian Head Corporation and later was made executive secretary for the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce. He is past president and is presently a board member of the Kiwanis Club of Cedar City. Mortensen of Parowan and they have four children: Lori, 16; Scott, 14; Gary, 7 and Kevin 3. Joan Mortensen has been a Red Cross director for the past two years. She has also been chairman of the Red Cross Parowan Par-owan drive and has worked on blood donor recruitment for Parowan. She has been secretary secre-tary for the Parowan Chamber of Commerce. Her husband Is Ranald Mortensen and their children are: Russell, 16; and Gordon, 14. The Red Cross board also noted not-ed that the 1973 fund drive is nearly completed with a record total that will exceed $3,000. Jim Wark was commended for his leadership as fund drive chairman and he praised the work of all who had a part in the drive. The 3 mining com-nnu, com-nnu, contributed $500. The business and professional con-tiibuiot-s were called on by the Kiwanis Club and gave $1,250. Georgia Beth Thompson was in charge of the residential drive and was assisted by the Boy Scouts in collecting $705 in Cedar City. Residents outside of Cedar City gave $251 under the chairmanship of Loran Hischi. Mrs. Betty Neff, chairman of the Blood Program, reported on plans for the July 17 blood drawing which has a quota of 150 pints to meet the requirements require-ments of Iron County residents for a half year period. He was Kiwanis co-chairman of the Red Cross fund drive for the business community this year. His wife is the former Zella |
