Show Literary Club plants Memorial Tree PAROWAN - The Parowan Literary Club met Saturday in the city park, where they planted a beautiful Idaho Locust tree in honor of the Bi-centennial. The tree was planted near the "Old Rock Church Museum" with appropriate ceremonies. They were assisted with the planting by Whitney Orton. The tree was purchased by the club from Shady Dell nursery and was chosen and shipped especially for the literary club. Other clubs and civic groups are asked to follow this example and that of the DUP who have also planted a commemorative tree and purchased and planted trees in honor of the Bicentennial Bi-centennial and to help reach the goal of one million trees the Governor of Utah has requested that residents plant. Our compliments to the Cedar Stake Young Adults, Jay and Chari Wheeler and all who participated in the "One Nation Under God" pageant the night of July 3. It was an excellent first effort. We look forward to next years production and an even better show. This was a fitting way for Cedar City to launch itself into the coming Bicentennial celebration. We remind citizens that it is also Cedar City's 125th birthday on November 11, 1976-- |
