Show Steps taken to assure smooth DOT transition X - i- if n i--I-,- - - 1 BLAINE J.KAY The recently appointed Utah Transportation Commission met for the first time July 1 to take the necessary steps to assure a smooth transition from the former Utah Department of Highways to the new Department Depart-ment of Transportation. The five-member Transportation Tran-sportation Commission was appointed by Governor Calvin L. Rampton and given the consent of the Utah State Senate during the special Session of the Utah Legislature in June. Clem H. Church of Panguitch was appointed to the commission to serve until April 1, 1977. All five of the commissioners are former State Road Commissioners. Com-missioners. Upon the recommendation of the Commission the Governor appointed Blaine J. Kay as the Director of the new Department of Transportation. As one of his first official acts. Mr. Kay appointed C. V. Anderson An-derson as Assistant Director of the Utah Department of Transportation. Tran-sportation. Anderson, served as District Engineer in Cedar City for a number of years, and has been serving as the State Highway High-way Engineer prior to his appointment ap-pointment this past week to the new position.
