Show Enrollment figure project bright future at SUSC Enrollment figures at Southern Utah State Colleg this fall indicate in-dicate a brighter future enrollment outlook than at anytime during the past three years. A large freshman class usually means larger classes during each of the following years untii that group graduates, student personnel services administrators ad-ministrators point out. Of a total enrollment of 1.811 students this fall, registrar's ' records show 939 students classified as freshmen. About a third of the 939 are advanced freshmen (have completed less than 44 credit hours) First-time students total 602. A total of 312 students have sophomore standing. 264 junior rank and 296 senior standing. Of the 1.811 SUSC students. 693 are female and 1.118 are male. Geographic distribution shows students from 26 of Utah's 29 i counties. Only Daggett. Morgan and Rich counties do not have students attending Southern Utah State. The five counties contributing the most students are, in order, Iron, Salt Lake, Washington, Utah and Sevier. Thirty-two of the 50 states and one U. S. Territory are represented in the student body. The four states contributing the most students are, in order Utah, Nevada, California and Arizona. Colorado, Hawaii and New Mexico are tied for fifth place. SUSC has a small foreign student enrollment. Other countries represented at the school include Columbia. Japan. Mexico, Nigeria and South Korea. The 1974 enrollment figure of 1.811 represents an increase of nearly 14 percent over fall quarter of 1973 according to registrar's office figures. Southern Utah State enrollment reached its peak during the fall, 1970, quarter when 1.972 students enrolled. Then it declined gradually until this fall's increase. |
