Show NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING APPERTAINING TO THE CONSTRUCTION, CON-STRUCTION, OPERATION, & MAINTENANCE OF THE NEW WASTEWATER TREATMENT TREAT-MENT WORKS AND USE OF THE TERTIARY TREATED j WATER FROM THE PLANT. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN I that CEDAR CITY CORPORAT- ! ION will hold a public hearing relative to the construction, op- ; eration and maintenance of the 1 proposed new wastewater treat-ment treat-ment plant and the proposed use of the tertiary treated wa- f ter therefrom at the hour of f 8:00 P. M, on the 28th day of j February, 1974, in the court- room of the City and County J Building, Cedar City, Iron Coun- ty. State of Utah. J The project consists of ap- I proximately 8,500 feet of grav- j ity sewer line from the exist- J ing plant to the new plant site, j a sewage lift station with two 450 gpm. pumps and a pressure sewer line to the gravity out- j fall line, a sewage treatment . plant consisting of headworks J with commlnuter, grit works j and measuring flume, one 55 ft. j diameter primary clarified, one 110 fit. diameter primary trick- ling filter, one 0 ft diameter j intermediate clarifier, two 12 ft. diameter automatic back- J wash gravity filters for efflu- I ent polishing, two 50 ft. dia- I meter anaerobic digesters and seven sludge drying beds of 4,000 sq. ft. The treatment plant is de- j signed for an average hydraul- f ic load of 2.26 million gallons I per day an an organic load of j 3,230 lbs. BOD 'per day for an equivilent population of 19,000 ! people. The polished effluent meet- j ing Class "C" water quality j standards will be intermittently j stored in an equalizing reservoir reser-voir constructed in earth, with an impervious clay lining on ! the entire bottom and sides j thereof to prevent seepage los- 1 ses, and pumped therefrom by J means of two 8 inch turbine pumps having capacities of i 1350 gpm and a pressure pipe- line back into the corporate j boundaries of Cedar City Corporation Cor-poration and used for unres-stricted unres-stricted irrigation purposes to 1 beautify Interstate Highway N. 1 15, the city cemetery, golf ! course, ball parks and other j such recreational facilities as the city may deem necessary, andor Intermittently stored for such irrigation purposes in a reservoir also constructed in 1 earth approximately one mile southwest from the city proper. There will be no direct discharge dis-charge of the polished effluent ' into any surface stream nor irrigation ir-rigation canal or ditch of the i Cedar City Valley except In an extreme emergency of prolonged prolong-ed power failures, meteorologi-cal meteorologi-cal and hydrological extremes Cear City Corporation and the employees thereof. The plans for the proposed treatment works, equalizing storage reservoirs, pumping stations and related facilities can be reviewed at the Cedar City Office and the office of Ralph B.
