Show Council moves to provide anioiial control ordinances Committees charged with developing de-veloping information and proposed pro-posed ordinances for Cedar City were formulated at the meeting of the Cedar City Council held Thursday evening. According to Mayor L. Kerry Jones a committee composed of two councllmen, Garn Huskin-son Huskin-son and Gordon Slack, and members of the community was appointed for the purpose of studying and preparing for consideration con-sideration an Ordinance concerning con-cerning animal control within the City. The. committee is charged with developing an ordinance that will meet the animal control con-trol needs of the community with preparation to be completed com-pleted prior to the February 7 meeting of the council. A second committee composed compos-ed of councllmen Robert Strat-ton Strat-ton and Arlo Larsen was appointed ap-pointed to persue the possibility possibil-ity of a recreational exchange with Southern Utah State College. Col-lege. The councllmen are ex pected to ask for the College's cooperation in the utilization of the SUSC swimming pool un til such time as other developments develop-ments in swimming facilities in the community can be met. In other action of the council, they accepted the responsibility responsibil-ity of serving as the fiscal agent ag-ent in handling the $25,000 emergency em-ergency housing funds allocated allocat-ed by the state of Utah. Mayor Jones points out that the actual identification and Installation of necessary housing improvements improve-ments will be done in cooperation coopera-tion with Cedar City Churches and the Building Trades Department De-partment at Southern Utah State College. The council further set a date for a public hearing to consider consid-er and hear recommendations on proposed changes on the proposed sewage disposal system. sys-tem. The council also heard from a delegation requesting the support of the Council for the development of the Union Pacific Pac-ific property at Main and 200 North street for the Iron Mission Mis-sion State Park. Council tabled the request until such time that a presentation presenta-tion can be heard from proposed propos-ed private developers who are also seeking to purchase the property In question. The proponents of the Iron Mission Park development indicated in-dicated that effort are being made to persuade the legislature legisla-ture to allocate funds for the purchase of the property from Union Pacific Railroad. |
