Show T ( FERN LEIGH SKOUGAARD Funeral services held for Fern Skougaard PAROWAN - Fern Leigh Skougaard, 86, of Parowan. died in the Cedar Manor Rest Home February 12 of natural causes. She was born in Cedar City, December 11, 1888 to John David and Sara Marie Chaffin Leigh. She married Earl Frederick Skougaard on Feb. 26, 1920 in Parowan. He died March 19, 1974. Mrs. Skougaard was educated in the Iron County School District and she graduated from the BAC with a degree in dressmaking. She was a very fine seamstress and was also well known for her rug making abilities. She took great pride in her duties as a housewife. Mrs. Skougaard was a member of the LDS Church and was an active member of the Relief Society. She was also a charter member of the American Legion Auxilliary, Post 20 and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include 2 soas and 2 daughters; David A., Mrs. Sara, "Sally" Hunter, Mrs. Joy D. Pollock, all Cedar City; Dare F. of Salt Lake City, 16 grandchildren grand-children and 16 great grandchildren. grand-children. One sister, Mrs. Laura Pickett, Tooele, also survives. Funeral services were held Sat. Feb. 15 in the Parowan 3rd Ward Chapel with Bishop Stephen Adams of the Parowan 1st Ward presiding. Interment was in the Parowan City Cemetery under the direction of the Metcalf Southern Utah Mortuaries. |
