Show Two tracts annexed to Parowan City unspayed females. Any dogs found without current licenses after the 15th will be picked up by the police dept. and placed in the City Pound. They will be kept there for three days during which the owner may recover them by paying a fine along with the regular license fee. If they are not picked up they will be destroyed. Parowan City and Iron County officials have been considering hiring a secretary to be stationed in the new courthouse to do clerical work for the Parowan Police Dept. and the Iron County Sheriff's Dept. The two Departments would each pay a share of the salary involved. Parowan City has approved this, and word on the countys decision has not yet been given. Mayor Kendall Gurr received a letter from the National Guard requesting approval to use the four bay area as a temporary camping place while they are constructing a road into the area where the new scout camp will be built in Braffits. The council approved this work will begin as soon as weather permits. PAROWAN - Parowan city officials voted to approve a move to annex two pieces of additional property Wednesday, where new building plans will be carried out. The first consists of 35 acres on the Northwest corner of town and is owned by Gam Page "Golden Sands Development" and John Cowen also owns land there. The other property involved is the Holyoak Lane property belonging to Richard T. Harris. Harris is building a sub-division there. This plot of ground involves in-volves about six acres. Parowan City has been exploring ex-ploring the possibility of purchasing pur-chasing a new electric ladder truck that would provide better service for the city and safer working conditions for employees em-ployees working on power poles, and the council approved the purchase at the Wed. council meeting. The new unit will be purchased from Williamsons in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Carma Adams met with the council to request a beer license at the Cortez Cafe. She was granted a class A license which allows customers to consume beer on the premises only. Cyril Pendleton entered a complaint about some dogs he feels are creating a nuisance and danger for citizens near them. He felt the council should take action to remove them. The matter was taken under advisement ad-visement with a decision to be reached after investigation. Dog licenses are due in Parowan with the deadline March 15. Fees are the same as last year with $5.00 for each male or spayed female and $15 for |
