Show Ms. Coravaglia - Artist-in-Residence Instructing fourth graders in the proper way to use watercolors, Marilyn Stillman Coravaglia will be spending the next four and a half weeks at East Elementary as an artist-in-residence. She will then go to each of the other elementary schools in Cedar City for a four and a half week period at each. Ms. Coravaglia feels that art at the elementary level is very important because children gain their appreciation ap-preciation for art at this level. She also finds the most satisfaction in teaching art at the elementary school level because of the enthusiasm en-thusiasm and spontaneity of the children. She wishes that every elementary school could have its own specialist in art. Ms. Coravaglia received her B.F.A. and M.Ed, degrees from the University of Utah. She considers herself to be a painter and a silversmith. She has studied painting and art history in New York City and spent six months in Mexico studying silversmithing. She has taught art on the junior high school and high school levels and has taught interior ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE. ..Marilyn Stillman Coravaglia instructs students at East Elementary in using watercolors. She is on the faculty at the Kimball Art Center in Park City where she teaches adult and children classes. This is her second year as an artist-in-residence. She has also spent time in Fillmore and Delta under the program. The program is sponsored through the Utah Council on the Arts and the National Endowment on the Arts. It is a national program which b :igs artists, poets, architects, ar-chitects, musicians and actors into the public schools. The local PTA groups are also contributing $250 towards funding Ms. Coravaglia's stay in Cedar City. |
