Show PARAGON AH NEWS By Hilma Lamoreaux Saturday was a long to be remembered day for the Lagrand Robb family. Lagrand and his cousin Lewis Prothero went to Otter Creek fishing and about 11:30 they had the misfortune to capsize their boat some 60 yards from shore throwing both men in the water. Lewis was under the boat but managed to get out and both clung to the boat until help arrived. However both lost all of their fishing gear, coats, chairs, full lunch buckets etc. Fortunately For-tunately the boat and motor were saved and both men were unhurt Later in the day the Robbs received word that their granddaughter, grand-daughter, Michelle of Price was injured in an accident while riding her bicycle. A car struck her and she was hospitalized with head injuries. Miss Charisse Christiansen and her fiance Tavish McGregor of Ridgecrest, Calif, arrived here on Tues. for an overnight visit with grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lagrand Robb. On Wed. they took the four Christiansen children who had been visiting here and went on north to join the parents who were spending some time with Robbs people in Ogden. Mrs. Lovena Leavitt of Mesquite, Nev. is visiting here with son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dalton. Her visit was interrupted by a trip to Las Vegas to see an ailing son, Parley Glen Leavitt who shortly afterward passed away at the age of 64. Mary took her mother to Las Vegas and the two remained there until after the funeral which was held on Aug. 20. The Lynn Kay Topham family returned to their home in Calif, on Sat. after almost two weeks here with Bishop and Mrs. Kenneth G. Topham. Mrs. Lola Robb and Miss Shirley Fotheringham were to Beaver on Thurs. to visit with Jack and Marie White. Mrs. Kristine Thornton arrived home from an extended trip to Okla. on Sat. her mother, Mrs. Elaine Hilman brought her from Caliente. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Robinson left early Sat: to go to Ely, Nev. to spend the weekend at the horse races. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Englestead of Hurricane spent the day here Thurs. with their niece, Mrs. Gwen Jones. Mrs. Gwen Jones and Mrs. Iras Jones traveled to Panguitch on Sat to attend the Golden Wedding Wed-ding reception for their friends, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Daly. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Talbot had a visit from a former neighbor recently. Mr. Jim Peterson of Salt Lake City visited with them overnight. Mrs. Wayne Holmquist entertained en-tertained on Fri. evening at her home in honor of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Kathy Holmquist of Cedar City. A large crowd of ladies enjoyed the interesting games and tasty refreshments. Several ladies came from Parowan including Kathy's mother, Mrs. Gaylen Bayles, a sister, also Mrs. Adele Matheson, Mrs. Dora Whitney and Mrs. Jenna Dean Holyoak. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Barton, daughters Nicole and Laura traveled to Provo Wed. to enroll Laura in school last year. Mrs. Kareen Robb of Henderson, Hen-derson, Nev. and her children arrived here on Tues. of last week to spend some time with Mrs. Nina Robb. Kerry and Shane Rosenberg of Cedar City visited here from Mon. to Wed. with grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Renford Talbot. The entire Rosenberg family came on Sat. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Talbot and son Kevin of Granger visited here recently with Jerry's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Renford Talbot Mrs. Hilma ' Lamoreaux traveled to Salt Lake City on Mon. with her son Duane and his daughter, Elaina of Cedar City. Elaina was in the Primary Medical overnight for minor surgery. Mrs. Lamoreaux visited with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Harris. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ivie of Duchesne visited here on Tues. with Valerie's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Robinson. On Fri. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Robinson traveled to Nephi for a birthday celebration at the Paul Chapman home. Their little daughter was one year old that day. The Robinsons went on to Orem and Provo to spend the weekend and see Irene's father i who is ill in the hospital. Billy Edwards and Mrs. Alice Robinson accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Edwards and son Paul of Cedar City to Nephi for the Chapman family celebration. |
