Show Cedar Redmen 'won battle but lost the War' in 7-6 loss to Basic Wolves Jackson broke around end and raced 56 yards for a score. The Redmen elected to go for a two point conversion and missed. On several occasions the Redmen drove deep into Wolves territory-once to the 10-but 10-but could not sustain the drives owing to miscues including fumbles, they lost two, and penalties. "We may have been looking beyond them to our game this week with Bear River. Nevertheless, Never-theless, we made the mistakes and it cost us.' he pointed out. In the game the Redmen ground game was great. Robert Morris carried 23 times for 134 yards; Brad Jackson packed 7 times for 99 yards. Vance Matheson had three carries for 13; Joe Well carried three times for 10 yards and quarterback Charles Judd carried seven times for 36 yards. "Our passing was bad," Bishop said. "Judd only got sacked once and in the final efforts in the game there were at least six passes that should have been caught," he felt. "We'll be working on that aspect of our game this week," Coach Bishop emphasized. It's nice to win the statistical battle but it would be much better to have won the game. That's somewhat the sentiments sen-timents of Coach Jack Bishop of the Cedar High School Redmen following their loss to the Basic Wolves in the Grid season opener Friday. Played at Henderson, Nev. the Redmen domianted the statistics in the game but came out on the short end of the score 7-6. Basic, with a strong passing attack took the opening kick and marched in three minutes for a score. They booted the extra point and took an early 7-0 lead. In the season the Wolves had eight plays, seven passing and connected on six of the seven. One was for 10 yards in the flat i for a TD. , . , With that exception the Red- men defense held, but the offense could never really get in gear.
