Show LOOKING BACK Did you know-That know-That in Pioneer days, people who were not able to repair their own shoes, had to supply their own leather goods to the cobbler, who traveled from door to door making and fixing shoes and boots ! 50 years ago William H. Manning, accompanied by E. F. Oborn and Orien Dalley, left for a tour through Kane, Garfield and Piute Counties where they gave a number of musical programs in the towns of Orderville, Kanab, Panguitch, Escalante and others in the surrounding areas. This was an annual affair in keeping with the BAC to give outlying districts the benefit of good musical entertainment en-tertainment 25 years ago Members of the Columbia Iron Mines Softball team was presented a trophy when they defeated Enterprise 2 to 1, to take the title in the Southern Utah Softball Tournament. Team members were Chet Cripps; Bob Stratton; Keith Cripps; Therol McArthur; Yorke Nelson, voted outstanding pitcher of the tourney; Max Cowan; Dick Dotson; Denton Bauer; Leo Cahoon; LaMar Snyder; Blaine Betenson; Raymond Brown and Kent Dover. 10 years ago Nine candidates vied for Miss Iron County Crown. They were Diana Orton, Tonya Burch, Connie Nick, Bonita Cooley, Jill Cope, Elaine Batty, Stephanie Bess, Cheryl Lynn Stubbs and LaVonna' Jones. Miss Cheryl Lynn Stubbs was elected Queen, Miss LaVonna Jones and Miss Diana Orton attendants of the queen. The trio reigned over all Fair activities. By D.Rogers |
