Show Mac Donald discusses views geared to provide only such basic services as good law enforcement, en-forcement, basic education, fire and flood protection, public health, waste disposal, roads and help where needed for old and unfortunate people who cannot provide for themselves. He is against the trend toward socialism that has been forced on the people during the last 40 years. On questions about the 5-county 5-county organization, he stated that the Regional government application forced on this area in 1973 in the form of the 5-county organization is not strong local government and was a step towards more and more government controls robbing local governments of their powers. He stressed the fact that he was not opposed to the programs in 5-county but against the way it was administered and run with unnecessary people on the payroll and giving power to appointed not elected officials. As to questions about the Valley View Medical Center he stated that the changes made under the new administrator have improved the situation there and perhaps for the first time since it was built the hospital, will break even this year. A new accounting system has been installed and part of the facility has been closed off for the time being. The 72 bed capacity has been cut down to 35, which is all that has been needed so far as the projected county growth has not been what was anticipated when the hospital was expanded. He stated that he ( feels that the hospital is staffed with very well qualified nurses and doctors and is an excellent medical center that he feels will soon be self-supporting. PAROWAN - Graham D.
