Show PARAGONAH NEWS Mr. and Mrs. John R. Lister have had a number of visitors recently. Their grandson, Cody Lister of Ely, Nev. is here for a three week's stay, and grandson, Brian of Ervlne, Calif, arrived during the weekend for a visit. Annabelle's mother, Mrs. Retta Parkinson of Beaver is with them at present and Jack Lister and two of his children spent Sat. with them. Mr. Alan Edwards and two sons of Texas were in town on Thurs. to visit at the Melva Barton home. Mr. Edwards was in Utah to visit his mother, Mrs. Mary Edwards of Delta and to take his sons to the Parks. at the K. Doyle Robinson home. Mr. and Mrs. K. Doyle Robinson traveled to Salt Lake City by bus the first weekend of Aug. to visit with the Burgess Robinson family and to attend the christening of little Kristin. Mrs. Bonnie Abbott arrived from Salt Lake City on Fri. to spend some time with her people, the Albin Judd Family. Donnine and Blake Benson have returned to Lawton, Okla. after a six weeks stay here with the Myron Abbott family. Mr. and Mrs. Lagrand Robb enjoyed having visitors during the week. Farrells two little girls of Salt Lake City were here two days and Mrs.'Sandra Robb and ' her family of Price spent one day with them. Mrs. Hazel Jean Robinson was leaving for Provo on Mon. in company with her sister, Mrs. Dott Smith of Parowan to attend Education week at BYU. This annual trip sees most of the Davenport girls together for a sister convention and they are expecting to be joined by Mrs. Mabel Montague, Mrs. Sarah Robinson, Mrs. Rachel Smith and Mrs. Margaret Hansen. Caliente, Nev. who are in Pa. Mrs. Patty Christiansen and seven of her family, plus a friend all from Calif, arrived here on Sat. to visit with the Lagrand Robbs. Patty and the older family members are going to Provo for Education Week. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Mortensen and children of Tooele visited here on Sun. with LaRae's people, the Clark Lamoreaux family. Mrs. Bertha S. Topham had several visitors during the week. On Mon. her cousin, Frank Culver and his wife were here same evening granddaughter, karen and her husband, Richard Chamberlain came from Provo for an overnight stay. On Tues. Mrs. June Stevens of Ogden was here with two of her grandsons. Miss Louise Davenport arrived home from Salt Lake City on Fri. to spend the weekend with her people, the Douglas Davenport family. Bishop and Mrs. Kenneth G. Topham were happy to welcome their son Kenneth Jr. and his wife and four children of Salt Lake City here on Sat. They are By llil ma Lamoreaux The annual reunion of the descendants of John Topham and Betsy Baker Topham will be held on Sat, Aug. 21 in the Paragonah Ward Cultural Hall, beginning at 12 o'clock noon. Lunch will be served at 12:30 and a program and election of officers will follow. A number of geneological items will be available, family group shots, pedigree chart pictures etc. All Topham relatives are invited to attend. Mr. and Mrs. J, B. Jones and family of Salt Lake City spent last week here with J. B.'s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Jones. On Fri. Mrs. Carmen Topham accompanied them to Fredonia and back. Mr and Mrs. R. L. McGookin left for their home in Long Beach, Calif, on Mon. after a week's stay here with Lavon's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Lund. Mrs. Kristine Thornto left for Wister, Okla . on Fri. to spend two weeks with her grandfather, Mr. J. A. McDuffey. She was to fly by way of Las Vegas and plans to drive back with her brother-in-law, and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Hinkle and their children of Mr. and Mrs. Ardell Talbot and their children traveled to Jerome, Idaho on Thurs. on a business trip. They came home on Sat. Mr. and Mrs. Orson Talbot have received word that their son Brent, and his entire family of St. George were leaving for a fine vacation trip on the 12th. They were going with a group from BYU on a tour of the Holy Land by way of London, England and' expect to be away for more than two weeks. The annual Plaque of Paragonah, the skunks, have arrived in town in great numbers and are making real pests of themselves and doing a great deal of damage to gardens, raiding chicken pens etc. and are being a problem in town in and in the fields. Corn patches are being raided regularly. Some people are shooting them, some are trapping them and more and more often "essence of skunk" floats through the town. Kay Robinson of Salt Lake City visited here overnight Wed. With his parents, Mr. and Mrs. K. Doyle Robinson. Mr. and Mrs. David Skougaard and two of their children were here from Cedar Sunday to visit planning for other family members to be here during the week, hopefully the entire family, to celebrate several August birthdays. Raymond Brey of Salt Lake City spent the weekend here with his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Antone Robinson. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Shaw, daughter Vickie and granddaughter grand-daughter Reva Cook of Las Vegas arrived here on Thurs. to visit until Mon. with Winnie's brothers, the Lamoreaux men. They were guests at the Clark Lamoreaux home and enjoyed some outings to the mountains. On Wed. the Steve Halversen family of Logan returned to their home following a week stay with Gayle's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Lund. Mrs. Lund and Lori Smith departed with them and Roene will visit with the Halversens and with the Victor Smiths for a time. Mrs. Irene Robinson was in the Valley View Medical Center from Tues. to Sat. for tests and treatment. Mr. Douglas Davenport was released from the Hospital on Fri. and is convalescing at home. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lamoreaux, Mrs. Hannah Robinson and Miss Ada Robinson were to St. George and Hurricane on Tues. In Hurricane they visited with Mrs. Robinson's brother, Ivor Clove and his daughter-in-law, Mrs. George Clove. |
