Show t-: School Board toughens evaluations; bond sale due Currently the sale of the bonds is scheduled for September 20 at 2 p.m. Hopefully the district will be in a position to then call for bids on the south Elementary addition by November in order that construction might get underway as soon as possible in 1977. It is the intent of the district that the additional classroom units will be available for the beginning of the 1977-78 school year. An effort to strengthen the evaluation system in the Iron County School District was made at the meeting of the Board of Education Monday. The board strengthened the system by requiring that teacners De evaluated annually and that teachers, be given an opportunity to assist in the evaluation of principals. The board action was taken in an effort to strengthen and to upgrade the evaluation system and to give guidance and direction in areas of need in training programs within the' district. The board also met with Lyle Larson of First Security Bank to finalize plans for the sale of $620,000 bonds in September for the purpose of building an addition ad-dition to the South Elementary School and to cooperate with Cedar City in the construction of a new swimming pool complex. The sale of the bonds, authorized by the public in a bond election in November, 1975, has been delayed pending certification cer-tification of the assessed valuation of Iron County. |
