Show Stan Watts to speak at Region 8 banquet Stan Watts, athletic director at Brigham Young University will be the guest speaker at the Annual Region Eight Awards Banquet to be held Tuesday, April 14, it is announced an-nounced by Ernie Riedelbach, chairman of the event. The annual banquet, at which outstanding players in football and basketball and coaches of the year in both sports in both Class A and Class AA will be honored, will be held at the Small Ballroom at the Southern Utah State College and is scheduled to begin at 7:30 pjm. Co-sponsors of the event are Radio Station KSUB, the SUSC Quarterback Club and Iron County Record. Recipients of the.aKards are selected by balloting of the coaches in the Region. The banquet is open to the public and tickets are on sale and can be acquired either at the Record Office, KSUB downtown down-town offices or at the Physical Education department at SUSC. SU-SC. Watts, recognized as one of the most successful basketball coaches in the country retired as head mentor at BYU this year after the Cougars had won their second successive Western Athletic Conference title. He has also brought his Cougars to two NIT championships. cham-pionships. His overall won-lost record is one of the best collegiate col-legiate marks in the country. Trophies will be awarded to the Outstanding Basketball, Outstanding Football players and Outstanding Coaches in-both in-both sports for both divisions of the Region. |
