Show Jane Mitchell claimed by Tex Anthony Douglas A. (Tex) Anthony and Mary Jane Mitchell were married Friday, July 21, in a ceremony performed at the home of the bride's parents in Las Vegas, Nev. Both are former students of Southern Utah State' College. Mr. and Mrs. Merton Mitchell, Mitch-ell, former Parowan and Cedar City residents are parents of the bride. Mr. Anthony is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Burkhalter, North Las Vegas. The marriage ceremony was performed by Bishop Roger Bryan of the Las Vegas Eighth Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. An informal in-formal reception honoring the newlyweds was held at the Mitchell residence following the ceremony. For her wedding, the bride wore a floor length gown, with train, of white delustered satin. sa-tin. A floral pearl decor was featured on the bodice and full three-quarter length sleeves of the gown, and repeated on the half-crown headpiece holding the waist length bridal brid-al viel. The bridal ensemble had previously been worn by the bride's tw0 sisters, Mrs. John Miller, Las Vegas, Nev. and Mrs. John Long, Cedar City, both of whom attended her at the wedding. The bridal bouquet was a shower of miniature sweetheart sweet-heart roses and baby breath centered with white orchids. Bill Anthony, Las Vegas, stood as best man for his brother. Music was furnished by Mrs. Tom (Kathryn Seaman) Guthrie Guth-rie of Las Vegas and Annette, Marilyn, and Sally Seaman, Ogden, all cousins of the bride. Out-of-town guests attending attend-ing the wedding were Mrs. Georgia Mitchell, grandmother grandmoth-er of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Watson Adams, Mr. and 'Mrs. Duane Lamoreaux and family, and Mr. "and Mrs. Gerry Bent-ley, Bent-ley, all of Parowan; Mr. and Mrs. John Long and Mrs. Kent Dover, Cedar City; Mr. ; and Mrs. Grant Seaman and family, fam-ily, Ogden; Mrs. Rodney Palmer, Pal-mer, Castro Valley, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Corry Olson of Boulder City, Nev. Following a honeymoon in southern California, the newly married couple will reside in Las Vegas where Mr. Anthony is employed for the summer by the city recreation department. depart-ment. He will teach at Rancho High School in Las Vegas beginning be-ginning in September. Mrs. Anthony is employed by the First National Bank of Nevada Neva-da in Las Vegas. While at SUSC, Mr. Anthony was named 1970 Athlete of the Year and Scholar Athlete. He lettered In football, basketball bas-ketball and baseball, winning All-American honors in the latter sport. He was listed for tw0 years in "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities" Uni-versities" and "Outstanding College Athletes of America. Mrs. Anthony attended SUSC SU-SC during the past year, also majoring in Physical Education. Educa-tion. She served as head cheerleader cheer-leader for Rancho High School varsity and junior varsity cheering teams, and was attendant at-tendant to the junior prom and homecoming queens. She was a member of the honor society and served on the yearbook staff and assembly committee. She participated In the nation, al cheerleader camp at Squaw Valley, Calif, and was asked to return as an Instructor. She was recipient of the American Legion Award for outstanding leadership. |
