Shakespearean Festival SUS given "Programming Award" The Utah Shakespearean; Festival and Southern Utaht State College are among eight national recipients of the "Creative Program ming Award" sponsored by the University Uni-versity Extension Association. The local program was selected select-ed from 76 entries in nation wide competition, according to Clare A. Easton, chairman of the Arts and Humanities Section Sec-tion of the NUBA. In making the award announcement, an-nouncement, i Mr. Easton said that the committee of judges felt that "the Utah Shake-spearean Shake-spearean Festival proves that creative ability and cultural outreach have very little to do with the size of one's community com-munity or institution." The Utah Shakesipearean Festival was initiated eleven years ago as an educational iheatre project which would ;s vi tv college and thp community com-munity and' allow integrated pdi-u'cipauon on cultural and academic levels. Special programs pro-grams such as workshops, seminars, lectures, and musical musi-cal programs are offered by the SUSC School of Continuing Education and Public Services Ser-vices in conjunction with Festival production. Dean Mc-Ray Mc-Ray Cloward is coordinator of the summer programs, and all continuing education offerings at the college. In its first four-week season this year, the Festival anticipates antici-pates a total attendance of approximately ap-proximately 14,000.
