Show Selective Service questions receive attention Question: Can the boy who doesn't go to college but is learning a trade be deferred in II-S the same as a university univers-ity student? Answer: No, however, he may be eligible for a H-A apprentice ap-prentice deferment if he meets the criteria prescribed by Selective Service. It is suggested sug-gested he confer with his local lo-cal board as to whether he meets qualifications. Question: My son will soon be discharged from the Navy. He went in at 17 and has never nev-er registered with Selective Service. Does he have to do so when he gets out? Answer: Yes. He must go to a local board of the Selective Service System and register within 30 days following the date he was separated from active duty. Question: Next June 6th I will finish law school and, presumably, lose my II-S deferment. de-ferment. If I am drafted before be-fore I can take my bar examination exam-ination I will probably have to go back to school for another an-other year after I am discharged dis-charged to review everything. Is there any chance of delaying delay-ing induction until I take the examination? Answer: Yes. If you are ordered or-dered to report for induction after your graduation and be-for be-for the date the next bar examination ex-amination is to be held, and if you have notified your local lo-cal board that you will take the examination and wish to have your induction postponed, post-poned, the board will past-pone past-pone your induction until the day following the last day of the bar examination. |
