Show Annual spring event Plans under way for art exhibit I Spring is welcomed every year by the Annual Cedar City Ci-ty Art Exhibit, and could there be a better way to express ex-press our attitude towards a most anticipated season? Through the arts man's spirit is refined and through this medium of color, design, interpretation, and most of all beauty we study some of the works we don't understand and thrill to that which we do. It all totals up to a very worthwhile and gratifying experience. ex-perience. In order to carry this memory mem-ory through the year, the art committee purchases two paintings from each exhibit to be displayed in public buildings build-ings for the enjoyment of any and all visitors. Now hanging in the Valley View Medical Center is the Harrison R. Grautage painting "Cash Valley Val-ley Landscape" and Oral T. Allred's "Abandoned". Other paintings owned by the exhi- bit are hanging in the Cedar City Public Library and in the schools. . Future, plans are for j a permanent galery where , these . pictures may be hung and viewed collectively for all to enjoy. This year there have been 124 invitations sent to artists in . the Intermountain West, , and he committee, headed by Mrs. James W.. Amend, is working to make this event 1 an outstanding one. . Donations have been received re-ceived from local business firms, city organizations, service ser-vice clubs and private citizens, citi-zens, and a $250.00 gift has been received from the Utah State Institute of Fine Arts to help defray costs. Added to the exhibit for the first time this year will be the award winning pictures from the Amature Show and a preview pre-view of the ceramic and textile tex-tile show to be included in next year's exhibit. j : v -: -Iirr .' .... , , , : .
