Show Janes Motor, National Little League champions lose first game cf the season crew pushed in 25 runs in the second inning of play to put the game out of reach early. As might be exjected the Arctic crew went on a hitting hit-ting rampage. Dilley collected 4 for 4, including a double; Reese had 5 for 6, including two triples; Moss was 4 for 5 at the plate, including three doubles. ChallLs, Smith and Reese all saw mound duty for the winners. Suffering the loss for Ron's was Hiskey and Ostler, who shared the mound chores. In the only other game of the week Lions took the measure mea-sure of Ron's by a score of 9-3. Esplin and Sorenson were on the mound for the victory and Hiskey and Ostler shared duty for Ron's. Top hitter of the game was Heppler of Lions with three hits in three official offi-cial trips to the plate, including includ-ing a double. Standings going into this week, the final week of regular reg-ular league action, follows: Jones Motor 13 1 Elks 9 4 Jaycees 10 4 Lions 5 7 Arctic Circle 2 12 Ron's Sporting 1 12 Although Jones Motor has the National Little League championship all wrapped up the big news of the week is the fact that they sufferd their first loss of the season at the hands of Jaycees, 28-6. Jaycees did what no one else been able to do this season sea-son and that in defeat Jones Motor, who had compiled a 13 win and no loss record before Thursday evening. One of the big factors in the win for Jay-handled Jay-handled the mound duties, giving up only four hits, but Laird belted out two home runs in addition to lead his team to victory. For the Jaycees it was really a hitting affair. Doubles were plentiful as Millett, Schaack and Gardner each hit two doubles. Seeing mound duty for Jones Motor was Christen -sen, Nakken and Hall. Hall was the big hitter for the losers los-ers with three hits in four trips, including a double. Jaycees had a pair of big innings in-nings in the victory pushing over nine runs in the third frame and adding eight in the fourth. In other action Arctic Circle moved out of the cellar position posi-tion Friday evening with a 31-5 victory over Ron's Sporting Sport-ing Goods. The Arctic Circle |
