Show Airport initial planning underway; City Countil-FFA sign sgreamont Cedar City Council has signed a contract with the Federal Aviation Agency which will result in extensive improvement and upgrading of the municipal airport it is announced by Mayor Lorcn Whetten. Tlie agreement commits monies through the FFA and a grant from the Four-Corners Regional Commission to the project. Earlier Cedar City, through a bond election, had received permission from residents res-idents to meet iU portion of the project and the Utah Aeronautical Aer-onautical Commission had si-to si-to earlier committed yartki.1 pating funds for the project Total cost of the project is estimated at $567,000. Of that amount the FAA has committed committ-ed $311,113 and the Four Corners Region has approved a grant in t.he amount of $109,109 for total of $533392. The balance of. the project funds will be met equally by Cedar City Corporation and by the State. Mayor Whetten indicated that bonds, approved by a bond election, will be sold to meet the City's portion of the improvement costs. The first engineers plans will be submitted, according to the timetable by August 31 of this year with final plans readied for submission by September 30. FAA approval approv-al is expected by mid-October and a call for bids will be made near October 18 with bid opening tentatively set for November 8.
