Show Music Arts Association Sponsors New Ballet West One of the most exciting programs of the Music Arts season will bo presented on Wednesday, January 22 at 8:15 p. m. in the CSU Auditorium Audi-torium when the Utah Civic Ballet (Ballet West) presents an evening of the dance. The ballet company has promised to give a premier performance of an entirely new ballet for its Cdar City patrons who have responded with great enthusiasm to previous performances per-formances in this area. The Utah Civic Ballet was recently re-organized into "Ballet West" to form the first jrofessional ballet company ir the United States operating on a regional basis, with plans to develop a permanent in- residence program with all the major cities of the Rocky Mountain area. William F. Christensen, Artistic Ar-tistic Director, explained that clue o the fact that the pop-ulaatlon pop-ulaatlon of the Rocky Moun. tain region is not large enough to support a major ballet company com-pany in each city, the new group will "provide outstanding outstand-ing ballet and serve the needs of the entire area." With the support and active ac-tive interest of the Federation of Rocky Mountain States, It has become possible to form "Ballet West". Under Music Arts Committee Commit-tee sponsorship, an afternoon performance will be given especially for school children of the Iron County School District. Dis-trict. Individual admission tickets will be on sale prior to the evening performance. |
