Show ffecSmen "ready" for battle with Pixie Mentally the team is ready. Tliat's the appraisal of Coach Julm Pensis as he prepares pre-pares his Cedar High School iiedipen for their opening j;anie of the 1972 football season sea-son plated Friday night at the ; Higlt School field. T. makg that even more jmpirtant is the fact that the Eednjen will face, as that opening opponent, Dixie High School, the top rivalry for the Redmen. Kickoff time has been set for 8 p.m. Physically the Redmen are ready. The club has sustained no major injury going into the opening game and will be at full capacity going into the important tilt. Coach Pensis feels that the offensive game is the strong factor for the Redmen this year. Wo have a big line and gcod backs, he emphasized. We expect to use that power for our running game. Other members of the back-field back-field include Mark Slack at tailback, Mike Metherall at fullback and Steve Moss at halfback. W o rking behind Jensen will be Tom Kings-ford Kings-ford at quarterback. Many of the interior linemen line-men will be going both ways this season and they will feature fea-ture experience and size. Seniors who give that experience experi-ence are Dan Humphreys, David Judd, Matias Quintan-ilia, Quintan-ilia, and Ron Adams. What does Pensis expect from Dixie. Well first of all they also have good size, he points out. They also have speed. "We expect Dixie to try to capitalize on their speed and possibly to move their game into the air rather than buck what we believe to be a strong defensive line." It will be the first game of the season for both clubs. Neither has? been tested. Dixie has tradition and experience going for them. But for Cedar. Well Coach Pensis believes that the Redmen will go into this Dixie game with the best mental and positive attitude in a number of years. Sparks are bound to fly in this Important contest in the Region Eight Class AA football foot-ball clash. |
