Show Cedar baseball league closes : : 71 season with all - star game Lance Prestwich who came to the mound for the Colt in 1 the bottom of the second stayed stay-ed on to pick up the mound victory as he allowed but three' hits over four innings of play. The Braves found themselves them-selves in trouble basically through walks and four pitchers pitch-ers were sent to the mound in an attempt to solve the problem. In spite of the loss the Braves were sparked with some fine fielding plays by Kirk Jones, who seems to be all over the field. Jones was also one of the top hitters in the contest. The winning Colt All- Star team was made up of five boys each from League champions, Lunt Motor, Cedar Builder's Supply and North East Furniture. The Braves, constituted five team members from regular league teams including in-cluding Lockhart Company, Southwestern Distributing and Antone's Interior. In the five inning battle the Colts walked off with a 21- 10 victory after trailing in the first inning by a score of 7- 0. The Braves, behind the pitching of Burke Wilkerson shut out the Colts in the top half of the first inning then pushed over seven big tallies in the bottom cf the frame in what looked like a run away. Not till the third inning did the Colts take over the lead when they pushed in ten runs on just three hits, and a host of walks and from that point on it was . the Colts game. |
