Show City Airport project progresses rapidly , Hichard Nelson of Midval-ley, Midval-ley, who has the contract to level the field and compact the base of the Parowan municipal mu-nicipal airport, reported on Monday that the job was almost al-most one-fourth complete at that time.; and that work is progressing very well. A runway 80 feet wide and 4200 feet in length is being prepared for the second phase of construction, that of giving giv-ing the runway an oil surface. sur-face. Nelson states that the earth is packing very well for the most part, and should make a base for a fine air strip, but that it needs the help of an oil dust coat to hold it. He is using two pieces of earth moving equipment and packing the dirt with the use of a sprinking system, and when the job is complete the field will be level and firm. Other improvements underway under-way at that place at the present pres-ent time is a program of improving im-proving the hangar with the installation of a new roof to the building. It is the hope of city officials that within a year or two, an oil mulch surface sur-face can be given to the strip to give it a lasting surface and make is usable for the entire year. |
